About Bohemian Dirt

Bohemian Dirt is my way of creating stories through collecting
and creating from those finds. I ache for nostalgia and times
gone by. I try to put those feelings in the pieces I create.
When I work on a piece I often let it tell me where it wants
to go. I have no set plans when approaching this work.

I love to hunt and gather. I believe there are those of us who were born
to be keepers of history. Collectors of sepia photographs, sun bleached
papers and linens. We might have wood boxes with broken china, buttons
and tile shards. Other boxes are filed with fragile, yellowed recipes and
words that touched us. No one told me I was destined to be a conservator
of the past. I knew instinctively. I sense the untold story in mellowed
wood and broken jewelry. The clip on earrings that were once worn by
a grand woman are now part of a different story. Her story continues
in the new one. I understand people and things that have weathered
storms & survived with grace,because I too have survived.

There is a blue pearl in each piece. A blue pearl when seen or visualized
during meditation is meant to be a sign of enlightment. May you find
your blue pearl in your piece and peace.
